History
In the year 1928, Mrs. Cora Hughes came to Thorold South with a vision to be a influence for good to the youth of Thorold South. She was later assisted by Bill and Lorene Wilkie, and with the help of a few others, a Sunday School was formed with about 75 children in attendance. It was held above a store on Niagara Falls Rd.
In 1949, John Funk and Ross Mclntee from St. Catharines were conducting open air gospel services on Clara Street when they were asked by this group to assist the then struggling Sunday School work. They agreed, and a Sunday Night Service was started. They were also supported by other young men including Bill Hay, Jack Trotter, Bob Steele and Norman Klager. After much visitation work, this was followed by a Thursday Night Children's Meeting which continued in various locations until 1962. In that year, the original building was erected on this present site.
It was in October of 1966 that the decision was made to form and meet here as an independent New Testament church. Several additions and improvements have been made to the building since then. At present the Elders are Ben Andress, Chris Jason and Ross McIntee. Other men who also served as Elders were Gord Bye, Malcolm Lowrie and Larry Jane, who are now with the Lord.
We are very thankful to the Lord for what He has done. Only through the grace of God has this local testimony been able to touch many lives for His Glory in the community of Thorold South and in nearby areas. Eternity alone will tell the full story of God's faithfulness.
