Missions

Why do we focus on Missions?  We focus on missions because the Lord does.  He wants everyone to accept Him as Saviour and so He uses us- our physical work, our time, our financial resources,  and our fervent prayers - to bring others to Himself.

Thorold South Gospel Chapel realizes that although the spiritual needs around the world are the most important, many times meeting the physical needs of hurting people is the best way to show Christ's love.  This is the reason we participate in efforts such as Samaritan's Purse, Elisha House (pregnancy crisis and family support center in Welland)  and our Pop Cans and Pennies drive, which has raised money for orphanages in Kenya.   We have also been glad to support our community by providing food for Ontario School's Breakfast Club.

One of our longest missions supporter, Lorene Wilkie, faithfully keeps up on the lives and events of the many assembly missionaries overseas.  She stays in regular correspondence by "snail mail"  and collects our Missionary Prayer Offering and sends it where needed.  We thank Lorene for her faithfulness in this ministry.

Joan McIntee organizes our Missionary Outreach program.  This is very practical in the sense that she makes lists of what supplies are needed where, and gathers the items needed for sewing skirts to send for children around the world.  In this way, we always know the material needs of the missionaries home and abroad for their own use or for the programs they run.  Thanks also to Joan for her efforts.

And last but not least, we have two families who have been commended full time to the Lord's work from our church. They have been serving the Lord faithfully for many years.   The first is the Boisvert family, who live and serve in Quebec.  And then there's the Gianotti's, who work in Rochester, NY.  Please visit these other pages to view photos and see a description of their families and ministries.
